April’s Festivals Around the Globe

April is a festive month around the world with a variety of diverse celebrations. From a tea festival to the Netherland’s Queen’s birthday and the sacred Holy Week celebrations in Jerusalem. You will find below many more ways to celebrate the beginning of spring and get outside to enjoy the fresh crisp air!

Here is a list of the most important and famous festivals around the globe in April:

April 3rd – China
Shanghai International Tea Culture Festival

The intention is to promote tea culture among the district’s denizens through specialist lectures, tea samples and Chinese, Japanese and Korean tea ceremony performances. Tea growers from all over China bring samples of their distinctive products, varieties with names like Dragon Well and Purple Bamboo Shoot. The festival is also attended by tea set and accessory manufacturers that come here to show their time-honoured artistry, reminding us that the enjoyment of tea is more than mere refreshment.


April 4th – Chile
Pirque Wine Festival

Vineyard in Italy This 2-day festival takes place in the small commune of Pirque. This is the perfect place to experience the wine-making traditions of Chile, since the most prominent vineyards participate to show the best of their crops. Beside wine, enjoy numerous traditional food stands, crafts and entertainment.


April 9th – Israel
Jerusalem’s Holy Week

For a week, the Christian Quarter is bustling with activity as passers-by are seen carrying festively woven palm or olive branches. The young local Arab Christian scouts are seen everywhere in their colourful uniforms, playing the bagpipes and beating their drums with great enthusiasm.


April 18th – Holland
National Museum Week

During this week, you can visit over 500 museums free of charge, or with a discounted admission. Most museums also organize workshops, guided tours, tastings, children’s treasure hunts and other activities for this special occasion.


April 22nd – Argentina
Surubí National Festival

Musicians at the Goya's festivalIn the city of Goya (Corrientes state), from April 22 to 29,  the 32nd edition of the traditional Fiesta Nacional del Surubí will take place, one of the largest fishing contests in the world. The festival is not only for fishermen, but for all culture lovers; with its election of the queen, the fashion parade, the local artists and a delicious dinner, this event hosts around 65 thousand people each year. San Francisco International Beer Festival

Queen’s Birthday in the Netherlands
