Bamba for Good returns to Andean villages in Peru in April 2019

In April 2019, Bamba for Good is teaming up with Futbol for Kids and Foster Soccer for the second time! The purpose of the trip is to make a charitable visit to rural Andean mountain villages in Peru, where many of the Bamba Experience porters, cooks and their families live.  Watch a video from our visit in 2018.

In 2019 our goal is to bring more resources to the primary school children in remote Andean villages.  We will donate soccer balls, backpacks, hats, solar-power lights, shoes, school supplies and medical supplies to the families and children of tourism workers on the Inca Trail. We are also fundraising towards the purchase and installation of a small playground for the kindergarten children. If we exceed our fundraising goals, our hope is to turn an empty field into a soccer pitch for the entire village.

A group of 15 volunteers including soccer coaches, high school students and parents, Bamba partners and their families will travel to remote Andean villages located about 3.5 hours from Cuzco at an altitude of 4,200 meters above sea level. The volunteers will partake in a 2-day soccer clinic and charitable visit as a token of our appreciation for the hard work and dedication of our porters and cooks on the Inca Trail and alternative treks to Machu Picchu.

We hope that the children will expand on the soccer skills we imparted in 2018. And that the love for football and healthy competition that we instilled in them in 2018 will continue to grow. The clinics will be held in the mornings from 9:00 – 12:00. Following this, the children will divide into teams representing Peru and Argentina for a school-wide tournament. In 2018 even the parents, observing from the sidelines, carrying babies on their backs and weaving yarn were encouraged to play. It was a heart-warming scene that brought everyone together with smiles and laughter no matter the language or age.
