After months of planning and anticipation, we finally set off on a family adventure to Bariloche, Argentina—and we couldn’t leave our furry family member behind! Bariloche turned out to be the perfect pet-friendly destination. Nestled in the heart of the Argentine Patagonia, this charming town promised stunning landscapes, exciting excursions, and plenty of open spaces for our dog to enjoy.
The snow-capped mountains, crystal-clear lakes, and crisp mountain air made every moment feel like a postcard come to life. We couldn’t have asked for a better getaway, and I’m so grateful for the memories we created together. Let me take you through the highlights of our trip to Argentina!
Day 1: Arrival in Bariloche
We arrived at Bariloche International Airport full of excitement and ready for adventure. As soon as we stepped off the plane, a friendly representative greeted us and whisked us off to our cozy, pet-friendly hotel. The check-in process was a breeze, thanks to the detailed itinerary we received, and knowing that we had a 24-hour emergency number put us at ease.
Our hotel was nestled right by Lake Nahuel Huapi, with stunning views that immediately made me want to pinch myself. Plus, it was perfect for our dog, who loved the open areas for walks. Though we didn’t have any scheduled activities that day, it gave us the perfect chance to explore the town, take a leisurely walk with our pup, and settle in.
Day 2: Circuito Chico Excursion
Today was our first big adventure, and it didn’t disappoint! After a hearty breakfast, we set off for the Half Day Circuito Chico Excursion, a must-do in Bariloche. The scenic drive along Bustillo Avenue was mesmerizing—the winding road hugged the shores of Lake Nahuel Huapi, and we were surrounded by lush forests and towering mountains. Our first stop was Playa Bonita, where we marveled at Huemul Island shimmering in the distance.
The highlight of the day was the chairlift ride up Campanario Hill. As we reached the summit, the panoramic views of lakes, peninsulas, and distant mountains were truly one of the most breathtaking sights we’d ever seen.
The kids loved spotting all the different landmarks, and we spent what felt like hours just soaking in the beauty. Our dog enjoyed the fresh mountain air as we strolled along the trails, making this experience even better.
Day 3: Victoria Island & Arrayanes Forest
Today, we set sail on a boat to explore Victoria Island and the magical Arrayanes Forest. The kids were thrilled to board the catamaran “Cau-Cau,” and the cruise across Lake Nahuel Huapi was smooth and scenic. As we arrived at Victoria Island, we took in the peaceful Playa del Toro and explored the island’s unique flora. Our dog was allowed to accompany us on many of the outdoor trails, which made the day even more special.
Our next stop was Los Arrayanes National Park, where we wandered through a forest of beautiful myrtle trees—one of a kind in the world! The walk was peaceful, and our pup loved exploring the new scents. It was an unforgettable day spent in nature, surrounded by the tranquility of Patagonia’s finest landscapes.
Day 4: Farewell Bariloche
After a delicious breakfast, it was time to say goodbye to Bariloche. As much as we didn’t want to leave, our hearts were full of gratitude for the incredible experiences we had shared as a family—dog included! The transfer back to the airport was smooth, and we boarded our flight with nothing but happy memories. Bariloche exceeded all our expectations, and I couldn’t help but feel thankful for this magical journey with the people (and pet) I love most.
Final Word
Bariloche was everything I’d hoped for and more—an adventure filled with nature, peace, and joy. And the best part? It was completely pet-friendly! Our dog had just as much fun as we did, from strolling along scenic trails to exploring open spaces. Bariloche is the perfect destination for families and their four-legged friends. I’m so thankful for the opportunity to explore such a beautiful corner of the world with my family and our beloved pet. I can’t wait to come back!
