As a beauty queen, I’ve had the privilege of visiting some of the world’s most dazzling destinations, but my recent trip to Guatemala truly stole the show. From ancient ruins to stunning lakes and charming colonial towns, this five-day adventure was nothing short of a royal experience. Here’s a glimpse into my crown-worthy journey through this Central American gem.
Day 1-2: Antigua’s Timeless Allure

My Guatemalan adventure began in the vibrant city of Antigua, a place where history and beauty intertwine in the most magical way. As soon as I stepped onto its cobblestone streets, I felt as if I had been transported back in time to a world of grand cathedrals, colorful facades, and lush gardens.
Day two was a mix of exploration and excitement as I visited Antigua’s most iconic landmarks, each more breathtaking than the last. But the real thrill came in the afternoon when I laced up my hiking boots and ascended the Pacaya Volcano.
Standing at 2,500 meters, this active volcano offered sweeping views of the surrounding landscape, including the majestic Calderas Lagoon and neighboring volcanoes. It was an experience that left me both humbled and exhilarated.
Day 3: The Enchanting Lake Atitlan

Day three was all about Lake Atitlan, often hailed as one of the most beautiful lakes in the world—and trust me, it did not disappoint! The lake’s crystal-clear waters and the surrounding volcanoes created a picture-perfect backdrop for our day of exploration. After soaking in the views at Panajachel, I took a boat across the lake to visit two Tzutuhil villages, where I was immersed in the rich and vibrant Mayan culture.
One of the most memorable moments was visiting the local saint, Maximon, in Santiago de Atitlan. People from all walks of life come here to ask for blessings, and even though I’m not usually one to seek out divine intervention, the experience was profoundly moving. After a day filled with culture and natural beauty, I returned to Guatemala City, ready for the next chapter of my adventure.
Day 4-5: Exploring the Ancient Wonders of Tikal

The fourth day of my trip took me to the heart of the ancient Mayan civilization—Tikal. After a quick flight to Flores, Peten, I was whisked away to this awe-inspiring archaeological site, where history came to life before my very eyes.
Walking among the towering temples and expansive Acropolis, I could almost hear the echoes of the past whispering through the trees. The highlight of the day was standing before the majestic “El Gran Jaguar” Temple, a true masterpiece of ancient architecture.
As my journey drew to a close, I couldn’t help but reflect on the incredible experiences I had in Guatemala. From the serene beauty of Lake Atitlan to the ancient mysteries of Tikal, every moment felt like a new jewel added to my travel crown.
Final Word
Guatemala is a destination that offers something for everyone—whether you’re a history buff, a nature lover, or simply someone looking to experience a new culture. My five-day adventure through this captivating country was a reminder that beauty isn’t just something you wear on your head; it’s something you discover in the world around you. And in Guatemala, beauty is everywhere you look.
