Check out Simon Owen’s video of his honeymoon through Latin America
During this amazing trip through Latin America, Simon and his companion crossed Central and South America to visit the San Blas Islands in Panama, the Galapagos Islands in Ecuador, and the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru. Those are 3 of the most famous landmarks in the Latin American continent and 3 unmissable destinations that you want to tick off your list when visiting this side of the world.
San Blas Islands is home of the Kuna Yala, an indigenous group that lives there autonomously, preserving their unique culture and way of life. A visit there is a once-in-a-lifetime experience as you will be hosted by a Kuna family on their own private island, cooked 3 meals a day and be able to peek into the lives of this thriving community.
Galapagos Islands are situated in the Pacific Ocean some 1,000 kms from the South American continent. These 19 islands and the surrounding marine reserve have been called a unique ‘living museum and showcase of evolution’. Located at the confluence of three ocean currents, the Galápagos are a ‘melting pot’ of marine species.
Peru is a multi-ethnic country that occupied the heart of the Inca empire. It is one of the most popular countries in South America and for a good reason. It offers a fascinating mix of Amazon Jungle, deserts, 6.000 metre-high mountains, beaches, stunning colonial towns and of course, pre-Hispanic civilisations as the ruins of Machu Picchu demonstrate.
Quite simply one of the most amazing adventures I’ve ever been on and captured with a pan left to right in every (OK, almost every!) shot. Met some amazing people and I couldn’t imagine a better way to spend a honeymoon!
