My Journey Through the Quechua Culture

andean way of life

My journey began in Cusco in Peru, the ancient capital of the Inca Empire. From there, I traveled to several different villages in the Andes Mountains, where I was welcomed with open arms by the Quechua people. As I learned more about the Quechua culture, I was amazed by the deep connection that they have with nature and the spiritual world. I was also fascinated by their history, which has been shaped by centuries of imperialism, colonization, and resistance.

One of the most memorable moments of my trip was when I stayed with a Quechua family in a remote village outside of Cusco. The family welcomed me into their home, showed me how they weave textiles and grow crops, and introduced me to their traditional food and music. Through sharing meals, stories, and laughs, I felt like I was able to connect with the family on a deeper level and gain a new appreciation for their way of life.

Another highlight of my trip was visiting Machu Picchu, the ancient Inca citadel that was built in the 15th century. As I traveled to Machu Picchu by hiking the Inca Trail through the mountains to reach the site, I was struck by the incredible engineering and craftsmanship that the Inca people possessed. It was awe-inspiring to see firsthand the legacy that the Quechua people had left behind and to imagine what life was like for them in the past.

Final Word

Throughout my journey, I learned so much about the Quechua culture and gained a newfound respect for their traditions and way of life. I was struck by the warmth, kindness, and generosity of the people that I met, and I was touched by the way that they welcomed me into their homes and community. My trip to Peru will always hold a special place in my heart, and I am so grateful for the experience of exploring the Quechua culture.
