Day 3: Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu
The culmination of our adventure was upon us. As the sun began to rise, we boarded a tourist-class bus back to Machu Picchu, eager to explore the ancient citadel in the early morning light. With a professional bilingual guide leading the way, we embarked on a guided tour of Machu Picchu, delving into its history, culture, and architectural marvels.
After the guided tour, we had the freedom to explore the site at our own pace, taking in the mesmerizing beauty and capturing the magic through our cameras. For the adventurous souls among us, there was the option to hike up Huayna Picchu, a steep peak offering unparalleled views of Machu Picchu. It was an additional challenge worth every step.
As the day drew to a close, we returned to Aguas Calientes, where we had time to relax, visit local cafes and markets, and reflect on the extraordinary journey we had undertaken.
