Day 1: Iquitos
Touching down in Iquitos before the break of dawn, anticipation coursed through my veins. After a brief stint of last-minute preparations and a whirlwind shopping spree, I boarded a boat bound for the heart of the Amazon. As the vessel cut through the waters of the mighty river, I felt a sense of excitement building within me.
Upon arrival at the lodge, I wasted no time in delving into the wilderness that surrounded me. The Leoncito Hike proved to be a revelation, as I marveled at the sheer diversity of flora and fauna that called this place home. From tasting the healing waters of Uncaria tomentosa to catching glimpses of elusive monkeys, every step of the journey was a revelation.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a golden glow over the forest of mirrors, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of awe wash over me. The nocturnal boat ride that followed offered a glimpse into the hidden world of caimans and nocturnal birds, leaving me spellbound by the mysteries of the jungle.
Day 2 to Day 3: Amazon Jungle, Peru

Setting out on a boat trip to Sapote Lagoon and Laguna Moena, I found myself in awe of the lazy bears and monkeys that lounged along the shores. Fishing for piranhas in the Corriente and Purura lagoons proved to be an exhilarating challenge, while the night walk in search of anaconda prey offered a thrilling glimpse into the darker side of the jungle.
As the sun rose over the horizon, painting the sky in hues of pink and gold, I knew that this day held something truly magical in store. Swimming in the same waters as the pink and grey dolphins was an experience beyond compare, a moment of pure bliss amidst the wonders of nature. From the majestic Victoria Regia to the playful iguanas that lined the shores, every moment spent cruising the Amazon River was a testament to the beauty of this pristine wilderness.
Day 4: Amazon Jungle - Iquitos, Peru
As my time in the Amazon drew to a close, I couldn’t help but feel a pang of sadness at the thought of leaving this enchanting paradise behind. Embarking on one final excursion to Casha Lagoon, I drank in the sights and sounds of the jungle with a sense of reverence and gratitude. And as I sailed back to Iquitos, bidding farewell to the wilderness that had captured my heart, I knew that this journey would forever hold a special place in my soul.
