In the heart of the Amazon Jungle, where the vibrant symphony of nature’s wonders unfolds at every turn, our Iquitos Amazon Jungle Adventure promises an unforgettable 3-day journey filled with awe and exploration. From the moment you step off the plane in Iquitos to the final farewell, you’ll be immersed in the breathtaking beauty and astounding biodiversity of the rainforest.
Day 1
As we embark on this adventure, the anticipation in the air is palpable. We gather in Iquitos, Peru, a city nestled on the banks of the mighty Amazon River, where our journey begins. The boat ride upstream takes us deep into the heart of the jungle, where we’ll call the lodge our home. After a delicious lunch, we set off on the Leoncito Hike, a mesmerizing introduction to the incredible flora and fauna of the Amazon.
Sipping water from the cat’s claw vines, standing in awe beneath the towering ceiba tree, and encountering a world of monkeys, including the pygmy marmoset and the mighty howler monkey, are experiences that will stay with you forever. As the sun sets over the “forest of mirrors,” we head back for a well-deserved dinner and a thrilling boat ride to spot caimans, nocturnal birds, and elusive mammals.
Day 2
Breakfast is a delightful affair as we prepare to cruise the majestic Amazon River. Swimming alongside the enchanting pink and grey dolphins is a moment of pure magic, a connection with the river’s inhabitants that leaves a lasting impression. The sight of the colossal Victoria Regia and the curious iguanas further deepen our appreciation for this remarkable ecosystem.
After lunch, we embark on a fishing expedition in the lakes Purura and Corrientes, where catching piranhas (especially in March, April, and May) is a challenging yet rewarding pursuit. Our day continues with wildlife sightings and a night walk in search of the fascinating frogs, while dispelling myths about tarantulas along the way.
Day 3
As we savor our final breakfast amidst the sounds of Peru‘s jungle waking up, we embark on a boat trip to Lake Sapote. Here, we are treated to a breathtaking display of avian diversity, from colorful parrots to graceful herons. A visit to the Moena lagoon reveals the tranquil world of sloths and playful monkeys, a perfect culmination of our Amazonian adventure. Our hearts and minds are filled with the memories of these incredible three days.
Final Word
As we bid adieu to this pristine paradise and cruise back to Iquitos, we can’t help but feel grateful for the unique opportunity to connect with nature in its purest form. The Amazon Jungle Adventure has not only enriched our understanding of the rainforest’s delicate balance but also left us with cherished memories and newfound respect for this extraordinary ecosystem.
