Climate change is real guys, and we are all responsible for the carbon footprint we leave on the planet. And as jet-setters, we have a particular obligation to leave the places we visit as good, if not better than how we found them. The good news is, it’s not hard to do and we have some awesome tips and advice to put you on the right track to becoming the Eco-friendly traveller we all need to be!
Give up the Plastic
Did you know that every piece of plastic ever created, is still in existence? It’s non-biodegradable, meaning it can not naturally decompose, and basically exists forever! 8 million tons of plastic is dumped in the sea alone, endangering the lives of all the sea life we love to visit. Do the world a HUGE favour and use a refillable water bottle, and keep the plastic waste to a minimum.
Lighten Your Load
If you are thinking about over packing that backpack, think again. Not only is it bad for your back, it’s bad for the environment. Every kilo counts when we are jetting off on our dream holiday, but the more weight the plane carries, the more carbon emissions it produces. Check out our blog post on packing light tips and dump that weight!
Offset Your Impact
Aahh, good old smart phones, where would we be without you? There are now Apps that will help you figure out what carbon you have produced on a trip, and then give you the options of a few environmental charities, to donate and offset your carbon footprint. Not only that, but they give you tips to reduce your energy consumption in daily life. Awesome!
Give Public Transport A Go
Going outside your comfort zone is what travelling is all about, indulging in the local culture and meeting the local people is all part of the experience.
