Our adventure kicked off bright and early at 7:00 AM as we were picked up from our accommodations in Cuzco. The first day’s journey took us through the South Valley, offering glimpses of picturesque villages and stunning vistas. Lunch in Pitumarca rejuvenated us for the hike ahead. As we ventured through the villages, we had the pleasure of interacting with the warm-hearted locals and catching glimpses of adorable chinchillas and the elusive vicunas.

After a 3-4 hour hike, we reached our campsite near Llamachimpana just as the sun began to set, promising a tranquil night’s sleep under a star-studded sky.

The second day started with a hearty breakfast, fueling us for the exciting climb ahead to the Rainbow Mountain. The early morning ascent provided awe-inspiring views of the magical landscapes and valleys. The vibrant hues of the Rainbow Mountain were simply surreal, making the climb entirely worth it.

We continued our adventure to the Red Valley viewpoint, offering yet another perspective of the breathtaking scenery. The descent, which lasted about three hours, allowed us to traverse the serene lagoons of Cochayoc and Yanacocha, adding to the beauty of the journey. Our descent culminated in a delicious lunch at Llamachimpana, preparing us for the journey back to Cuzco and the end of this unforgettable adventure.
