Enriching Adventures: Exploring the Choquequirao Trek with Baboo Travel

Life can sometimes feel like a never-ending routine. Wake up, go to work, come back home, and repeat. But every now and then, a spark of adventure ignites, and the monotony is broken. In the spirit of this, my friends and I embarked on a thrilling journey to the Choquequirao Archaelogical Park in Peru, meticulously arranged by the wonderful team at Baboo Travel. This adventure turned out to be not just a physical journey but a life-changing experience, filled with personal realizations and moments of sheer enrichment.

Day 1: Cuzco-Chicquisqa, Peru

Our journey began in the charming city of Cuzco, nestled high in the Peruvian Andes. The early morning departure from Cuzco at 5:00 am marked the beginning of our grand adventure. We boarded a private car, excitement bubbling in the air. Our first stop was the archaeological site of Saywite, where we immersed ourselves in the history and culture of this captivating region.

As we descended to the mountain village of Cachora, we made a quick stop to gather supplies for the trek. A dash of excitement and a hint of anticipation filled the air as we stocked up on essentials for the journey ahead. The day’s highlight was our travel pass to a 2-hour hike to Capuliyoc, where we were rewarded with breathtaking views of the Apurimac valley below and the snow-capped peaks of Padrayoc and Wayna Cachora. It was a perfect reminder of the beauty of the world waiting to be explored.

Day 2: Chicquisqa-Choquequirao

Day two was a challenging yet incredibly rewarding day. We embarked on an early departure, descending to Playa Rosalinas and crossing the magnificent Apurimac River. The steep climb to Santa Rosa tested our determination, but the stunning landscapes and the camaraderie of our group kept us motivated.

At Santa Rosa, we took a much-needed break to replenish our energy and hydrate. The climb continued towards Marampata, a plateau offering a mesmerizing view of Choquequirao. Lunch was a feast for the senses, as we indulged in local flavors while soaking in the surroundings.

Afterward, we hiked for about two more hours, reaching the archaeological site of Choquequirao. As we explored the ancient ruins, a sense of wonder and respect for the Inca civilization washed over us. The icing on the cake was watching majestic condors soaring in the sky as the sun set, a sight that left us in awe of nature’s majesty.

Day 3: Choquequirao-Santa Rosa

Day three was a chance to dive deeper into the wonders of Choquequirao. The morning was dedicated to exploring the Inca site, a place where history whispered through the stones and the wind carried tales of the past. It was a moment of connection with a bygone era.

In the afternoon, we retraced our steps along the edge of the Apurimac canyon, descending to our tropical campsite at Santa Rosa. The journey was a mix of reflection and appreciation, allowing us to savor every step of our adventure. I experienced the positive travel reviews in person.

The final day of our trek arrived, bringing with it a mix of emotions. We began the day early, escaping the heat of the Apurimac Canyon as we descended to the rushing river. The arduous climb that followed was nothing short of a test of our determination and endurance. But with each step, and with the help our local travel expert, we were rewarded with breathtaking views that fueled our spirits.

Lunch in Capuliyoc was a moment to reflect on our journey, surrounded by the picturesque countryside. The last two hours of our custom trip led us through beautiful farming landscapes, offering a flat and soothing trail. As we approached the village of Cachora, we couldn’t help but appreciate the beauty of simplicity.

The return to Cuzco was bittersweet, marking the end of our adventure. But the memories and the lessons learned on this journey would stay with us forever. We arrived in Cuzco between 7 or 8 pm, tired but brimming with stories to share and hearts full of gratitude.

In the end, our trip to the Choquequirao Trek with Bamba Travel was not just about the physical challenge or the breathtaking landscapes. It was about personal growth, the power of camaraderie, and the undeniable enrichment that comes from stepping out of our comfort zones.
